why did i start blogging?
I have a journal that I share with my best friend where we take turns having its custody and writing in it. We are currently on our 2nd journal \ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ/!!
I truly love our journals so much (and my best friend of course mwah) because it is a time capsule of who we were and what our feelings were when we wrote in them. I also love the act of personalizing and decorating the pages with stickers, cards from artists, dried flowers, etc. And of course, I love having my designated someone to share my journal with.
When I made this blog, the journal was in their custody and I don't like to keep a personal journal outside of our shared one. I tend to get bad wrist pain from trying to write legibly. So, I decided to make a blog!
We are what we eat.
Now that I have a 9-5, it was so easy to go home from work, scroll, eat dinner, scroll, sleep.
I've been trying to consume and engage with more video essays and long form media since coming out of that decrepit 9-5 cycle. A result of that shift was I wrote in my journal more! I want to say I had a lot more critical thoughts, whether it be my conclusions from a YouTube video essay, my rants about a book, analysis of movie/ show characters, etc.
I've also noticed that my speech has gone down hill. I grasp at words often and I insert noises to convey my feelings towards conversation topics, rather than using proper words. Talking at work gets really rough, especially when I have an idea I need to describe.
I want to say listening to audio-books has helped my speech, but not really. At least, not significantly. I want to believe that writing my thoughts on this blog will also help me speak more eloquently.
I also want to use this blog as a place to archive things i like instead of losing them into the world wide web. This blog will also help limit how many times I have to google to reach the same website all the time. My little library of websites, videos, recipes, etc.
Herman (the creator of this site) or moderators, if you read this, I love BearBlog so much. Highly recommend to anyone also interesting in starting a blog.

I started exploring the discovery page, initially for inspiration for how to format and structure this blog. However, reading through some of the Most Recent pages was cathartic. The are no ads, a lot of bloggers are anonymous-ish, and most posts don't have a lot of images.
The lack of ads really makes this place feel more like a community rather than another social media platform; it doesn't feel like the posts I read through are paid to sell me something. It feels like I'm taking a dip in someone's pool of inner thoughts.
Since these posts are conveyed through text, rather than video, I'm enjoying the anonymous-ish-ness of this space; I'm not subconsciously making assumptions about these people based on their looks, their way of speech, or the background in the video.
Also I love how personalized I can get here.

LOOOOOOK AT HIM
