what an asshat
I really do enjoy talking to the custodians that come by my desk everyday to throw out my trash. I genuinely like hearing about one of their life, their interests, stuff they find passion in, or just funny stories. I started because its polite but this week its been something i kinda look forward to. Sometimes, i kinda dread "being obligated" to have a conversation with someone, but c'mon. I'm not being forced and usually i'm having a good time!
Anyways, i was mentioning to someone how i value stuff differently (e.g. not willing to spend $450 on a switch2 but ready to spend it on a new tattoo) and how i still don't think i can afford a switch 2. I also brought up how the custodian that comes by works 2 jobs, a day/main job and a night job (being a custodian). This person then says in a whisper, "at least you don't have to work 2 jobs" while covering their mouth and motioning behind him... what? That was kinda fucked up??? I am grateful that i don't need to work 2 jobs but there is nothing anything wrong with working two jobs. Why do you need to jab at someone like that?
In the past he has made comments to me along the lines of, "oh, you work here. You can afford it" Uhhhhh? I have my own financial goals and limitations, thank you very much.
Man, i kinda passed it off but that really grinds my gears.
Also, be grateful you're not in a situation that requires you to have 2 jobs! Not saying you need justification to have 2 jobs at all, but what if someone has medical debt from a loved ones prolonged treatment. Would you still say something like that???
