Stinky Tofu and Fungal Delights

private vs public and my traveling-in-group-rules

I've been thinking about this a lot. Should i have kept my blog my little secret and private from friends? Should i have prevented the people i know from knowing these thoughts i document here? Or do i share to my little world that ive built here to the people i find close?

I've been running with this second option. I tell people i have a blog. if they ask for the link or info, i share. i also have it available on my private, close friends, social media account. But, for some reason, people find the fact i have a blog cool but they don't really ask for the link or info. I found this very different from my initial expectations. Are they trying to give me the option to deem them qualified to view this blog?

I love my friends but i feel like i have limited what i can say here. I know that i learn more about myself from learning and observing the stuff i dont like, and sometimes, the stuff i dont like about others. Maybe these thoughts and reflections i have are simply things i should keep to myself and reflect on, rather than letting out into the ether.

LOLOL.

Anyways, imma rant about "rules" ive picked up recently that i have for myself and kinda for others

  1. If you're traveling with people and you want to do something specific (and it's mostly for your enjoyment), you are responsible.

Example: I want to go to a Pokemon store while traveling with not-as-big-of-fans-of-Pokemon. I am responsible for scheduling/planning for, finding, and navigating to said Pokemon store.

There are definitely caveats to this rule, but i think this is pretty fair.

  1. If i don't involve myself or give opinions during the planning phase of trips, i can't complain about jack shit. -> if you cant communicate your wants/ desires, you don't deserve to communicate about ur dislikes that was in your control

If the trip is boring to me or we do stuff im not interested in, thats my own fault! no one to blame but myself so there is not justification for complaining

  1. If group is bigger than 3, be fine splitting up and do different things that cater to different interests.

  2. In a tight city sidewalk, don't be an ass, walk in single-file line when passing other.

I personally think, you should never be walking in a line of 3 unless the sidewalk or road can fit 5 people side-by-side comfortably!

  1. Be fine not having someone beside you the entire time you're traveling.

I'm fine letting people zipper in front of me when it comes to boarding a busy bus or metro. As long as my group is within eye-sight im good.

  1. Generally, just be mindful of others.

I love, love, love, traveling with my friends but there are definitely moments of annoyance, you know? Nothing worth an intervention but i know i have rules for myself that i do sometimes expect of others to a smaller extent.

Now, this isn't a rule but i will let out my frustrations now.

Went on a trip recently and bruh, i was a damn line-leader and executive-decision maker the whole damn time. I DID NOT LIKE. There was a night where I was pretty drunk/ill so we went for a walk before going to our next destination. We were mostly walking so i could feel better BUT i verbally communicated multiple times that i DID NOT want to walk in front while ILL and inebriated. We were a group of 3 so if they wanted me to not be behind/ get lost, I couldnt easily walked in the middle of the damn line. What happened? I was the damn line-leader the whole damn time even after repeatedly saying i did not want to. Pissed me off.

Overall, i had a great time and a great trip. Like the moment above, there were moments of annoyances but i still enjoyed my trip. Unless i communicate my grievances and things i want to change (aka i dont want to make 95% of decisions and be responsible for 95% of the general mood/ vibes), i dont think i would travel with this exact group again :P. Great friends! Not very compatible traveling. It is also very likely i just tell them my grievances if there is a chance of a future trip together.

I also want to say im not the perfect travel partner either. I wish i had a better poker face. i think it's obvious when i'm not enjoying something 100%. But i think as long as someone else is enjoying it, i dont mind being bored/ uncomfortable to an extent. I dont want my friends to walk on pins and needles around me, which i fear/feel that they do sometimes.

Oh the woes of being expressive asf.

Anways, looking forward to traveling with my most traveling-compatible person, my partner! Yay!
